Billing and payment options vary by hospital. To ensure your payment is applied correctly, choose the hospital listed on your billing statement or where you received care.

If You Have Insurance
We accept most major health insurance plans and managed care programs. Several factors can affect the amount a patient owes the hospital. Some health insurance plans may have special requirements for certain tests or procedures. Additionally, some physicians may not participate in your health care plan and their services may not be covered. If you fail to meet your health insurance plan requirements, you may be financially responsible for all or part of the services you receive at the hospital. Be sure you review your benefits plan to understand all of the plan requirements affecting your financial responsibility.
If You Don’t Have Insurance
No one will be denied necessary medical care due to lack of insurance or inability to pay. However, you may be asked to pay a deposit if you’re admitted or when you register for an outpatient procedure. Financial assistance may be available.
Understanding Prices
We know patients are most interested in understanding how much they will pay out of pocket for their care. We encourage patients to find out as much as they can about the cost of their care before coming to the hospital.

Understanding Physician Fees and Facility Fees
Some visits at Huntsville Hospital Health System hospital-based clinics or outpatient departments may result in two separate charges: a provider fee and a facility fee.
We know it can be confusing — and sometimes frustrating — to receive more than one statement for a single visit. These are not duplicate charges. They reflect two different parts of the care you received.
The physician fee covers the medical services provided by your physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or other provider. This includes the provider’s time, diagnosis, treatment plan and follow-up instructions.
The facility fee covers the hospital-based resources that support your visit and care. This may include nursing and support staff, medical equipment, supplies, technology, registration, security, clinic space and other operating costs required to make care available in a hospital-based setting.
This type of billing is common for hospital-based clinics and outpatient departments across the country. It may apply to certain specialty clinics, outpatient services or practices that are located on a hospital campus or operated as part of a hospital. A clinic can be hospital-based even if it is not inside the main hospital building.

Depending on your insurance plan, these charges may appear as separate bills or separate Explanation of Benefits statements. Your insurance plan determines your final out-of-pocket cost, including any copay, coinsurance or deductible.
